Category: Citrus Wellness Tonic
Best Time: Morning, midday, or early afternoon
Method
Add the lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, grated ginger, mint leaves, and filtered water to a glass jug. Stir gently and allow the mixture to infuse for 5 minutes. Strain if you prefer a smoother tonic.
Fill two glasses with ice and divide the citrus mixture between them. Top each glass with sparkling water and add honey or maple syrup only if needed. Garnish with citrus slices and fresh mint before serving.
Notes
For a stronger ginger flavour, let the ginger infuse for longer or gently simmer it with the filtered water before cooling. Prepare the citrus base in advance, but add sparkling water immediately before serving.
Caution
Citrus and mint may not suit everyone, particularly those who experience reflux or sensitivity to acidic foods. Citrus may also interact with some medicines, so seek professional advice if you take medication or have a health condition.
Benefits
May support hydration and help add variety to a low-sugar beverage routine. Citrus fruits may contribute vitamin C as part of a varied diet, while ginger and mint provide naturally aromatic plant compounds. The tonic is best enjoyed as a refreshing drink, not as a substitute for medical care or a balanced meal.
For Best Benefits
Take this tonic outside or enjoy it beside an open window. Use the first few sips as an opportunity to pause, breathe, and begin the next part of your day with intention.
